MAKE WHAT YOU WANT: Macintosh [128K], Apple Computer Design Team, 1984

“…People used to make their own [computer] cases for them, often quite nice wooden cases…”

Starting to research ideas for the PG02 Cycle 2 ‘Behind the scenes’  project brief and came across this podcast as part of the Design Museum’s recent California: Designing Freedom exhibition.

Interesting to consider that Apple started as a very DIY, hobbyist enterprise. The current cost and effort needed now to upgrade or replace even the smallest element of Apple products, and their uniform look seems a far cry from this.

3D ring design

First 3D model for 3D printing. A ring in the shape of a cat. Of course.

Had a bit of trouble getting the shapes right in Solidworks, so drew it in Illustrator first, then imported and extruded the various shapes.

Update 29/10/2017:
Some photos of the 3D printed ring (pre-cleaning).
