Finally at the stage where I can play a good quality sounding MP3 file through Arduino. It doesn’t sound so ‘good’ here as it is routed back through the laptop and Audacity via a crackly audio interface connection, but it is quite clear on headphones. And it’s now ready for me to start triggering these MP3 files via various sensors.
Here’s the code used:
//code rearranged by Javier Muñoz 10/11/2016 ask me at javimusama@hotmail.com
#include <SoftwareSerial.h>
#define ARDUINO_RX 5//should connect to TX of the Serial MP3 Player module
#define ARDUINO_TX 6//connect to RX of the module

Now to go through the documentation for the Catalex MP3 board.
